Town History
At Dallas Computer Services, we’re proud to serve the vibrant city of Garland, Texas—a community shaped by resilience, industry, and innovation. The city’s roots go back to the late 1800s when two rival towns, Duck Creek and Embree, came together to form a unified community named after U.S. Attorney General Augustus H. Garland. Officially incorporated in 1891, Garland has grown from a rural rail town into a thriving manufacturing hub. With deep historical roots preserved in places like the restored 1901 Santa Fe depot, the city honors its heritage while continuing to grow and modernize. From operating its own electric utility since 1923 to supporting over 300 manufacturers today, Garland’s legacy of self-reliance is something we admire and emulate in our tech-driven service offerings. It’s a place where tradition and technology meet—and we’re honored to be part of that journey.
Area Sports
Garland isn’t just a great place to live—it’s a great place to play, too. We’ve long appreciated the city’s strong commitment to recreation, with top-notch facilities like Firewheel Golf Park, a local favorite since 1983. Whether you’re teeing off in a tournament or just enjoying a casual game, the park offers a beautiful green retreat. When summer hits, families cool off at Hawaiian Falls Garland, a water park full of slides and fun for all ages. Nature lovers can find serenity at Spring Creek Forest Preserve, with its rare old-growth woods and scenic trails. Even Central Park holds a special place as a Lone Star Legacy Park, reflecting Garland’s dedication to preserving spaces that bring the community together. At Dallas Computer Services, we value this sense of balance—hard work paired with recreation and well-being—just like our clients do here in Garland.
Local Attractions
There’s always something happening in Garland, from cultural outings to retail adventures. The Firewheel Town Center has become a regional hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment, offering everything from brand-name stores to movie theaters in a beautifully designed open-air setting. We also love what’s happening downtown, where revitalization efforts have transformed historic buildings into vibrant arts and business spaces, including projects like 5th Street Crossing. The Garland Landmark Museum keeps the city’s past alive with exhibits and stories housed in the iconic Santa Fe depot. Whether it’s the arts, local history, or modern commerce, Garland’s attractions speak to a community that’s constantly evolving—and we’re here to keep your tech evolving with it.
